Gambit through to semi-cs cases free

Gambit punch their way through to the semi-finals after their win against the Brazilian side FURIA in a convincing 2-0 fashion.

Gambit have become the third team to claim victory in the Avicii Arena following their 2-0 win over FURIA. The win sends the CIS side into the semi-finals as they managed to keep the aggressive Brazilians at bay on Inferno and Overpass.

FURIA did keep the series competitive, especially on their pick of Inferno. Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov said in a post-match interview that emotions got to his team and were the reason why the first map went to overtime. Gambit awaits the winner of the match between Natus Vincere and Vitality in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Gambit showed good Counter-Strike on the stage

Gambit opened Inferno with an aggressive pistol round that went their way. FURIA responded with their own hyper aggressive style and kept the Gambit defence honest, testing their ability to convert post-plant and retake scenarios. Dmitry "⁠sh1ro⁠" Sokolov tied up the score 4-4 for his team with a hero AWP play but the Brazilians gave their opponents no breathing room off the back of opening kills from Kaike "⁠KSCERATO⁠" Cerato and Yuri "⁠yuurih⁠" Santos. sh1ro and Sergey "⁠Ax1Le⁠" Rykhtorov closed out the first half with a trio of kills early in the round.

Behind at the half, FURIA took the pistol and shut down a FURIA-esque force-buy from Gambit to keep the score close. After that, Gambit began to gather a lead, outmaneuvering the double AWP hold of FURIA and arriving at 15 rounds. FURIA refused to go down and converted multiple rounds thanks to heroics from KSCERATO in the cubby on A long and André "⁠drop⁠" Abreu at the top of banana to eventually force the first map into overtime.

Gambit only found a single round in the first half of overtime thanks to a multi-kill round from nafany and a late round flank out of Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov. A Timofey "⁠interz⁠" Yakushin quad-kill to open the second half of overtime spelt the end for FURIA as Gambit pulled off a flawless defence to seal the map 19-17 and move onto their map pick.

FURIA managed the first two rounds of Overpass before Gambit replied with a string of rounds that saw them outduel the Brazilians and run over a double AWP setup. yuurih and Andrei "⁠arT⁠" Piovezan stepped up to hold the A bathrooms and put their side in a favourable position to secure their third round which they narrowly converted. Both sides battled for lead going into half-time which saw Gambit ahead 8-7.

sh1ro was able to stop yuurih from successfully clutching the pistol but FURIA forced into the following round and found three total before Ax1Le put an end to the momentum of the Brazilians and used the wind from the round to sail into a string of rounds in their favour. Going into the final round of the map, Gambit had left two FURIA players with no money to purchase a weapon or utility and HObbit ended up putting the final nail in the coffin for FURIA's Major run.
